Foundations of Children’s Yoga for Educators and Clinicians:

Are you interested in supporting your student's or client's wellbeing, self-awareness, resilience and sense of personal power with the tools of yoga and mindfulness? 

This Level One Educator and Clinician workshop provides participants with the fundamental understanding and tools needed to teach yoga and mindulness practices in a classroom and/or clinical setings.

You don't have to be a yoga teacher, or advanced practicioner, to join us! The only requirement is a desire to learn and a genuine respect for children of all ages. We'll give you the rest. 

Learn the structured framework of Connect, Breathe, Move, Focus and Relax that all LFY classes are based on, and which supports simple and sustainable implementation. Other topics covered include:

  • Understanding the brain-body-nervous system relationship and development
  • Making movement activities accessible, safe and engaging while in the school setting
  • Breathwork for children to help regulate energy level and nervous system arousal
  • Introduction to simple and effective mindfulness practices that can be used throughout the day
  • Guiding principles for teaching classes based on a compassionate understanding of students’ needs
  • Creating physically and emotionally safe space for learning
  • Writing lesson plans and integrating yoga and mindfulness practices into a school day or clinical setting 
  • The ethics of teaching yoga to children while in the classroom or clinical setting

           Saturday, May 19, 2018: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
           Sunday, May 20, 2018: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM

           Early registration price of $595 ends April 18, 2018

Meet Your Trainer: Jennifer Cohen Harper

Jennifer is the founder of LFY, and a leading voice in the children’s yoga and mindfulness community. She is the author of Little Flower Yoga for Kids: A Yoga and Mindfulness Program to Help Your Child Improve Attention and Emotional Balance, and the co-editor of Best Practices for Yoga in Schools. Jenn also serves as the board president of the Yoga Service Council, dedicated to making yoga accessible to all regardless of circumstance. Her work has been featured in prominent publications including the NY Times, International Journal of Yoga Therapy, and Yoga Journal, and endorsed by thought leaders including Daniel Siegel, Sharon Salzberg and Congressman Tim Ryan.

Meet Your Trainer: Mayuri Gonzalez

Mayuri Gonzalez is a nationally recognized presenter, trainer and instructor in mindfulness and children’s yoga. She has more than 25 years of experience practicing yoga and mindfulness, and provides therapeutic yoga classes to children and families as well as teaching yoga and mindfulness classes in schools and community centers. In her role as director of the School Yoga Project, Mayuri trains and mentors teachers, counselors and school support staff. She is a contributing author to Best Practices for Yoga in Schools, and a presenter for PESI, offering continuing education to educators and health care providers.
